a Best Practices rules can be analyzed for the marked provider(s) once the user has created User Defined Best Practices


b Documentation sets generated from the marked provider(s) do not contain a unique structure and instead use a common layout


c Excel Spreadsheet Lineage Analysis only supports dependency scanning Data Sources from SQL Server and Analysis Services Databases and does not support PowerPivot


d Data Dictionary categories can be applied to the marked provider(s) once custom paths have been created


Getting Started

1.   After creating a solution, click the "Add" button on the right side of the window


     

2.   Give the solution item a meaningful name


3.   Select the Excel Spreadsheet provider from the source type drop down



4.      The Excel Spreadsheet provider contains two source options:

o   File: Select File to document an Excel Workbook located on the file system. Clicking the ellipses will launch the file explorer, allowing users the opportunity to navigate to the location of any *.xlsx file

o   Folder: Select Folder to recursively document all Excel Workbook Item(s) located within a specific folder on the file system. Clicking the ellipses will launch the file explorer, allowing users the opportunity to select a folder that contains at least one *.xlsx file


5.   You may also customize your documentation by adding filters


Important Note:

Excluding certain types or items may affect Lineage Analysis



6.   Click "OK" to add the Excel Spreadsheet to the Solution Items window
