Getting Started

1.   After creating a solution, click the "Add" button on the right side of the page

.

2.   Give the solution item a meaningful name

3.   Select the SSIS provider from the "Source Type" drop down.

4.   The SSIS Provider contains several connection options:

o   File: Select File to document SSIS Item(s) located on the file system. Clicking the ellipses will launch the file explorer, allowing users the opportunity to navigate to the location of any *.dtsx, *.dtproj, *.sln, or *.ispac files.

o   Folder: Like File, select Folder to document SSIS Item(s) located on the file system. Unlike file, the Folder option will recursively document all SSIS items located within the folder. Clicking the ellipses will launch the file explorer, allowing users the opportunity to select a folder that contains at least one SSIS item.

o   SQL Server: Select SQL Server to document SSIS Item(s) deployed to a SQL Server instance.

o   Package Store: Select Package Store to document SSIS Item(s) deployed to an SSIS Package Store.

o   Catalog: Select Catalog to document SSIS Item(s) deployed to an SSIS Package Catalog.

Important Note:

Due to DOC xPress' need to extract metadata from SSIS Packages, Integrated Security is required to connect to an SSIS Catalog.

5.   You may also customize your documentation by adding filters

Important Note:

Excluding certain types may affect Lineage Analysis.

6.   Click "OK" to add the SSIS items to the Solution Items window

Sample Output

Doc xPress allows you to quickly develop an overview of your Integration Services Packages. With the SSIS Package documentation you can display diagrams of both the control and data flow of an SSIS package.

You can also view detailed information for package event handlers.

It will also document properties for every component across all Data Flows.
