Setup Instructions


To begin iterative scanning of solution item(s), the DOC xPress Remote Agent will need to be installed. It is recommended that the machine running the remote agent have network access and permission to all solution item(s) that the user wishes the remote agent to scan. Additionally, the user setup to run the remote agent will also need permission to access the solution item(s).


1.   After ensuring you meet the System Requirements, launch the DOC xPress Remote Agent installer


Important Note:

By default, the DOC xPress Remote Agent installer can be found at the following location on the machine that DOC xPress Server was installed on:


C:\Program Files (x86)\Pragmatic Works\Workbench Server\DOC xPress Data Services\DOC xPress Remote Agent.exe



2.   Make sure to read the License terms and conditions before checking "I agree to the License terms and conditions". When you are done reviewing the settings for the current page, click "Next".



3.   On the "DOC xPress Remote Agent Service" page, you can configure the Remote Agent Service and which user account you wish for the service to run as


Important Note:

The user specified to run the DOC xPress Remote Agent must have the appropriate permissions to access all of the solution items that you wish for the remote agent to manage.


The user specified to run the DOC xPress Remote Agent Service must be contained within the "Log on as a service" local security policy.



4.   On the "DOC xPress Server Location" page, you can configure the Workbench Server Host URL that the remote agent will communicate with and report any changes that it detects within the solution item(s) it has been configured to scan



Important Note:

Once the user clicks the "Install" button, the DOC xPress Remote Agent may need to download and install necessary software prerequisites. After installing the software prerequisites, the DOC xPress Remote Agent will begin installing the necessary software.


5.  Once installation has completed, DOC xPress Remote Agent will launch the Remote Agent Licensing window. There are two ways to activate your Remote Agent: automatically through the Internet or manually with the help of Pragmatic Works' Support Staff.

o   If you already have an activation key and have access to the Internet, click "I have an activation key".

o   If you require the assistance of the Pragmatic Works' Support Staff in order to receive your license, click "I want to activate manually".



Important Note:

If you wish to trial the DOC xPress Remote Agent before purchasing a license, clicking the "Cancel" button will begin a fourteen day trial. Once the trial ends, a license will need to be purchased before the Remote Agent will execute further solution item scans. The DOC xPress Remote Agent License installer can be launched again once the trial has expired. By default, the DOC xPress License installer can be found at the following location:


C:\Program Files (x86)\Pragmatic Works\DOC xPress Remote Agent\DOC xPress Remote Agent\LicenseInstaller.exe




You are now ready to begin configuring the remote agent to scan solution item(s).
